Schwartz Calls for Removal of ICE Chief, Asking “Where’s Jim Cooper on this?”

schwartz-calls-for-removal-of-ice-chief-asking-wheres-jim-cooper-on-this

Bob Schwartz, Republican candidate for the 5th Congressional District today expressed outrage at the contents of a leaked memo from the office of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). In it, the Obama Administration mandated more than 24 changes “to make the immigration detention system less penal and more humane”.

The changes being ordered by the White House include the following:

* Dance classes, movie nights and bingo
* Free and unmonitored phone service
* Free email access
* Arts and crafts
* More variety in dining options
* Self service beverage stations
* Fresh vegetable bars
* Fresh carrot sticks
* Hanging plants
* Recreation in a natural setting

In what must have been motivated by a desire not to damage their self esteem, gang members not yet convicted of major crimes won’t be subject to searches and pat downs.

“All that seems to be lacking is a fresh mint on their pillow each morning,” Schwartz said. He continued: “I remember Tennesseans who struggle each day to keep their jobs and homes and I think of the many Nashvillians who lost so much in the recent flood. This sort of preferred treatment makes me furious! Our hard earned money pays for this insanity.”

“Unlike Jim Cooper, who meekly goes along with the radical Pelosi/Obama agenda, I will not hesitate to raise my voice in protest whenever either party forgets the folks back home.”

Continued Schwartz, “John Morton, the head of ICE should be fired. The stakes are too high to accept continued poor performance in this position. I encourage anyone who agrees with me to call Jim Cooper at 615-736-5295 and ask that he finally raise his voice in this area.”

A Peaceful Death – a Memorial Day Remembrance

a-peaceful-death-a-memorial-day-remembrance

I stood by the bedside as the young soldier talked with his father about World War II. In the last year, most of what his father talked about with him were the days he spent in Italy. He often told a story about the men in his platoon taking up money to throw a party for the civilians in a small town that had been devastated by the war. He was especially proud of that! He talked about many secret night missions. As his son listened, he had his own stories on his heart. He had already served six deployments on four continents. He was 44 years old.

A couple of days later, the soldier’s father died. Tears streamed down the face of his wife of 63 years. We were all in the room. The young man commented, “I have never seen a peaceful death. I am thankful that Dad went peacefully.”

We can listen to the news. We can see the pictures. But I am thankful that we do not have to witness the agonizing death in war. You see, we have soldiers that do that FOR US. Unbelievable isn’t it? It’s a soldier who witnesses the violence and takes up arms so we don’t have to. I don’t want anyone in my family to EVER forget that! I hope you don’t
either. TELL THEM THE TRUE STORIES.

By the way, that young soldier died two years later. Tears streamed down the face of his mother. The passing of his father was the only peaceful death he ever witnessed. John F. Kennedy said, “Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and success of liberty.” If liberty is to succeed, all will have to give some . . . some will have to give all!

May your family be blessed this Memorial Day. Remember our Veterans and those currently serving in our military!

My Best,
Sheila

Aliens and Immigration: A Common Sense Fix

aliens-and-immigration-a-common-sense-fix

I subscribe to the K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid) philosophy to solving problems. When it comes to solving the problem of illegal aliens present in our nation, we need to keep things simple. The root of the current trouble can be traced to two factors: poor border security and an arduous immigration process. The federal government is responsible for both of these issues; the federal government has failed at both. To fix the problems we need to get back to some basic common sense.

If a water pipe breaks in a house, the first thing you do is turn off the water at the point it enters the house. After that you can fix the broken pipe and begin to clean up the standing water. The first thing that the federal government needs to do is stop the flow of illegal aliens into this country. This is the most important issue. We must strengthen and secure our borders and coastlines.

Once the flow of illegal aliens into our country is stopped we can streamline the process by which immigrants come to the US and address the issue of those who are here illegally. Currently, it is far too difficult for those wanting to immigrate to the United States to get here. We need to simplify and streamline that bureaucratic process. It is a shame that there are Americans with loved ones in other countries that wait years and spend thousands of dollars to get into the US to be with their families while we are bringing legal immigrants from other countries into our neighborhoods by the thousands. The process for those who want to get to the US should be easier and conscious of time.

To address illegal aliens currently present in the US, state and local law enforcement must have authority to identify, arrest, and deport illegal aliens. Taxpayer funded social services provided to illegal aliens must be halted. Those employing illegal aliens must be held accountable for breaking the law, as well. If the alien’s funding and income are cut off then they will be forced to relocate.

Some will be tempted to label such an approach as cruel. However, it is completely consistent with the immigration policies of other countries. Try sneaking into Canada, Great Britain, France or even Mexico itself and living off of their social system. You will find that America’s policy is quite lenient compared to other nations and has been for years.

Some Americans are upset with Arizona for passing and signing into law a measure allowing the state to protect itself from the financial drain illegal aliens create in that state. Our country was established as, and is still, a collection of sovereign states with a duty to their citizens to protect their rights. If the federal government refuses to enforce the laws of our country to ensure the safety of the individual and collective states and citizenry then it falls to the states themselves to do so.

In this matter, as in so many others, our Congress and Federal Government continue to fail the citizenry of OUR United States. Americans must stand up for themselves and RID the Houses of Congress (Senate & House of Representatives) of those representatives that have turned their back on our constitution and on the people they were elected to represent. The current Representative from Tennessee’s 5th District, Jim Cooper, has been a part of that failure for years. That must stop.

Please help me as I fight for the cause of America and seek to remove Jim Cooper from Tennessee’s 5th Us House Seat. www.VoteWhitfield.com.
